Sandra Darlington
These are pictures of 2 quilts I did last month for a friend's two grandsons. They are twin bed size. The stripe is orange in one and maroon in the other. The brothers share a bedroom. I used So Fine thread top and bobbin and Warm & White batting which was supplied by my friend. Sandra Darlington
Kristina..do you know what the book is called? I think the pattern is called Between Friends. I am on vacation in Duck, in the Outer Banks of NC, so I don't have the book here to check for you, Shannon. And...I am going through quilting withdrawal. witha'K'quilting
The book is called "Happy Hour" by Atkinson's Designs. And, yes, the pattern is "Between Friends".
Sandra Darlington
Yep, you're right Kristina. I just could not remember what it was. Thanks for checking. I made several quilts from that book, too. They go very fast and turn out great. Each one I quilted with the CL Swirls; a perfect combination. Sandra Darlington
Kristina, I will take a picture of it when I get home in a few days. I'm still away on vacation. I made it (or, at least started it) at a workshop by "Lizzie-B-Cre8tive." They are 2 gals who are sister-in-laws and both their names are Elizabeth Hawkins. They both love to quilt and over the years came out with their own pattern line and travel around doing guild workshops. They are both talented and entertaining. I think this is their web site. www.lizziebcre8ive.com The pattern is called La Vie en Rose. I bought several of their patterns, but this is the only one I made so far. witha'K'quilting
Thanks Sandra. Are the flowers on the La Vie En Rose quilt raw edge applique or needle turn? I checked out the site...love the quilts. Never mind, I read the how 2's and got my answer. I love freezer paper applique...and I like their way of doing it. quiltlover03
Nice Quilts, I love black and white and the orange makes it pop. I like these easy big block FQ Quilts. Nice to piece and nice to quilt.
Sandra Darlington
The directions are for raw edge. The way they teach their applique is to just cut out your flowers, lay them on the background and then straight stitch (on your domestic machine) about 1/8th inch inside of the applique. I think they suggested using a fabric glue to hold them in place until you stitch them down. After everything is quilted, they say to throw the quilt in the washer and dryer to encourage the edges of the applique to fray a bit. It was a fun project. JoleneK
Perfect quilt for a couple of boys. I need to put together a quick quilt for my nephew and this would be the right one. It will have to be expanded to a king for him, which is why I want a simpler pattern inthe first place.
