Pennyquilts
I finished the top today!! The top measures 90x108 Now that I have had a chance to look at it, I may not tea stain it after all. What do you think?
LinneaMarie
Ummmm, I think it is very pretty just the way it is!!! Great job!! Looks HUGE!!
Primitive1
Tea staining it would make it more muted, but it looks nice the way it is..wow what a lot of work!
AnnHenry
It's really a matter of personal preference. I prefer pure snow white, especially for patriotic quilts with red and blue (our flag is NOT red, beige, and blue). But if you prefer beige to white as some people do, go for the tea bag! It's your quilt. Do whatever floats your boat! You don't need anyone else's permission!
quiltingjoyful51
Penny, I like it as is. How about using a tan or multi color thread to do the quilting in the white? That could tone the white down for you.
kennan100
I like it it is, but I see what Joyce is talkings about. I think you'd have to use a small to medium stipple in a shade of beige or tan on the darker side of a mid shade for it to effect the color. There was a quilt at the 2008 Houston show that was done by "inda Taylor and Cheri Meineke Johnson that Linda used this technique on. From a distance the light background area looked almost colorwashed in different pastels. Up close you could see shed done a small stipple in different pastels of every color in differnt areas and the white background picked up each color from a distance. I might have pics of that one. If I do I'll post them tomorrow.
Quilting Heidi
I like it as is too but I too like white. Either way it would be just beautiful. You are going ot have so much fun quilting!
witha'K'quilting
I, on the other hand, would think that tea staingin this top would probably be terrific. But then, I don't like stark white. It is very pretty though. Have fun with the quilting. It will look great when finished.
Stagecl
Did you prewash your fabrics? I always worry about the reds and blues running. I think it looks fine the way it is, but it is your quilt.
IBQLTN2
Penny Did you add the stars across the top with the blue under them as a pillow tuck? and by the way I love the white. I have a lonestar which needs to be longer for the pillows and I have been trying to decide what to add for the pillow section. I had thought of Lemoyne stars. It looks great! rlhdesigns
Penny, Tea stain would give the quilt a vintage look. I also like the white. I think if you are going to use your quilt in a room with beige, then you might consider tea stain. The quilt will be beautiful either way. delld
Whatever you decide, tea or white it's beautiful!
kimmiequilts
I love it, I'd use the tan or beige thread in the white to add some texture, a nice varigated in those shades would look good too! Are you going to do feathers in the solid colored areas? I can't wait to see it all quilted!
Linda G. Craig
Such a pretty quilt top. Great work! I'm like you, I can't decide to tea or not to tea, but I can tell you are going to have lots of fun quilting this baby. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
