Thank you for your prayers

Recommended Posts

I want you all to know how much I appreciate your prayers. Last night was a rough night. I felt terrible all evening. My brother and his wife stopped by and they were talking about how pale I was...that always makes you feel so much better :D .

Funny thing about these injections...you can take them in a series of 3. When you get the 1st one they are very possitive about the outcome. You get the 2nd they tell you most people don't need a 3rd. You go for the 3rd one they say this may not work for me, but he doesn't think a surgeon will want to do surgery. Hum...what to do next?

It seems funny that if my problem is not the disc, that the shot in or around the disc sure stops the pain. Now, that is not to say it won't be back in 2 weeks...but for today the pain is almost completely gone.

I am at work today, we will see how long I last.

Thank you again for your prayers.

Wishing you all a very Blessed Christmas!!

Oh yikes! Isn't your doctor a surgeon? Perhaps you should ask him to refer to you a specialist. Don't let his "opinion" scare you or deflate your hope. When I broke my foot I had weird feelings about the surgeon I visited (he said odd things) so I went to another surgeon and I found out that this other guy is a flake. :o Glad I got a referral away from that quack. Please, don't take this guy's word for granted. Take care of yourself, Mary Beth. I hope the best for you. Look at all the options. And if surgery is the best choice, it can be successful. People get back surgery and there is hope for you. Keep looking for a doctor who gives you a positive outlook and positive answers.

Hey Shana,

My doctor referred me to the pain clinic at the hospital. He is a specialist, but not a neuro surgeon. He said that he would refer me to a surgeon, but he doesn't think the 2 bulges are sever enough to have surgery.

Hopefully, this injection will do the trick and I won't need to worry about it. Today I feel terrible, but I think is the after affects of the sedation meds. I'm drinking lots of water and hoping to feel better by tomorrow. Just taking it easy.

Thank you all for your well wishes...I'm sure I will be falling through ceilings very soon :D

MB - I do hope the injections work ............. I also hope that if you end up with a surgeon, you find one (neuro or otho) that has done a fellowship in back surgeries. You want only the best. I have had 6 back surgeries - too many - & now I am pain free (just get tweekies sometimes) and med free & back to all my normal activities!!!!! Hang in there!!!

Mary Beth

Hope you're feeling much better soon. Haven't tried Circles on my Circle Lord soon but just wondered - if you're thinking of stitching circles to know where to put the feathers instead of drawing them, could you stitch the circles with soluble thread? Just wondering?

Merry Christmas to all my APQS sisters & brothers.

Hi Mary Beth - if your discs are bulging enough to put pressure on your nerves, they just may require surgery. Not necessarily a fusion, but perhaps a discectomy and foraminotomy to get the disc material off of your nerve routes. I know a bit about this stuff -- not in the neck, but in the lower back for sure. I'm glad you will go to see a specialist. Life is way too short to live it in pain. That part I know a LOT about. I hope you have a pain-free Christmas!

Oh Mary Beth those shots are not fun to go thru. Because I have the neurostimulator for my low back, I can't have one for the neck as it would be up into the brain. Without the lower one in your back they MAY be able to put one higher for the neck, but I really don't know.

You can look them up under MedTronic, Neurostimulator, and get more info there.. I'd really shy away from neck surgery if at all possible. Again I'm not sure, but have heard of those who have it, complaining about stiff necks, and a lot of lost mobility.

Prayers for your healing.

You can look up orthopedic Dr.s; Pain Management Dr.s; and Neurosurgeons in your area right here on the internet.

Yes, I have just finished with the pain managment doctors. Next will be a neurosurgeon unless this last injection worked. I don't want to have surgery on my neck, and you proabably are right about the loss of mobility. I have had lower back surgery and am extremely limited compared to what I was like before the surgery. However, if I go to neurosurgeons or if they can get me into one here in KC that is suppose to be the best around and he think surgery would help, then I will proabaly do it. When I am in pain, I can't stand to push the little button on my keyless entry for my car, things that small are painful. I'm willing to try surgery if he says I need it.
