Mary Beth
Is that your dog?? How did it like the snow??
Gator
Yep, that's our "dog that doesn't know she's a dog". She wasn't impressed with the snow, she had trouble finding where the "yellow" snow goes.
Gator
How do I insert a picture from flickr? I was fairly sure on how to do it from webshots?
quiltinginthecountry
Connie, That picture of your dog with his/her booties on is adorable. Love it. Thanks for posting.................
yankiequilter
I'm doing a test post of 3 pictures from Flickr. After reading about all of the problems that people are having with Webshots, I don't want to use it and hope Flickr will be safe and allow multiple photo posts. Here goes........ http://www.flickr.com/photos/yankiestitcher/?saved=1 Well, that didn't work. The link will take you to the photos but not post them. Will have to continue to work on this. Trying it again <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/yankiestitcher/4319504231/" title="P1070376 by yankiestitcher, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2711/4319504231_fc63ca3830.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="P1070376" /></a> AAAHHHHHHHH Success! Use "Share This", and then " "Grab the HTML", on each picture individually.
KathG
<a href=" title="KEVIN_AND_LAUREN2 by Kath Garvey, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2013/1788942692_5f4b35723e_o.jpg" width="830" height="538" alt="KEVIN_AND_LAUREN2" /></a> Just remembered I had a flickr account already, but have not really used it much. so I am testing with one of the photos that I had on there already Lets see if this works:) Ok that worked.......If you are having problems, what worked for me was.......Above the photo are some small iconss. one is a liitle magnify glass with a + in it and says ALL sizes......If you click on that , it will open a new page. Go to the bottom of the page and highlight and copy the code from Option 1. Paste that into the APQS message box, and your photo should show. hope this helps
yankiequilter
Now I can't get a photo posted and I've tried at least 8 times. I'm giving up for today - life is too short for this amount of frustration!
Bonnie
I braved it and went into Webshots and erased all my photos and erased the link to my site from here...now off to find someplace else to have my photos...so it may be a few days with a blank avator. Mary Beth
Okay, I don't know much about this kind of thing, and I am more than willing to change, but how do we know that the same thing can't happen on flicker?
Kay Anderson
My guess is that we don't. Just use this untill another problem comes up. I think I like the Flicker site better anyway. Thanks for the link Gator! We have been having Trojan Horse problems and didn't know where it was coming from. Maybe the webshots site. Anyway we just bought a new anti virus program to protect our pcs. It's an expense I'd rather not have, but we just can't take the risk at not being protected. After hearing about some of the members here having such troubles it put us in high gear to get a new program. I do not want to go through that! Gator
MB, I don't think that we can be totally safe, unless you have a MAC (no I don't have a MAC). However, I really want to see you guys quilts so I'll take my chances with any program except webshots. It's to bad about webshots, it was easy to use. Flicker is run by yahoo so maybe they'll watch their site for invaders. Keep your anti-virus software up to date and hopefully it will catch the junk. Crazy world we live in today, people get their jollies messing with our systems for no reason at all.
Georgene
Maybe I'm synical, but sometimes I think the anti-virus software companies must pay the goons to create these viruses to keep them in business.
Georgene
Ladies, I just received my weekly Webshots email alert. So I used that email to respond to them asking about the virus and the status. I'll keep you informed if I hear back. Like Connie said -- afraid to go to the site to find their email contact info. yankiequilter
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong to post photos from Flickr? I had a lot of trouble trying to post photos yesterday and this morning so deleted my Flickr account, which I had created yesterday and had loaded a few photos on. Today I created a new account, loaded 5 photos, created a Set from them. Open the set, select All Sizes, choose Medium, copy the html from Option 1, paste it to APQS forum post and the photo doesn't appear, only the html. In the forum I have selected the Reply button from the thread and I am not doing a preview, so don't know what is wrong. This is driving me crazy!!!!:mad::mad:
sewlinzi
There is also photobucket...I've only got the free version of Flickr so you can't organise thins much. I gave up on Webshots a while ago - too many popups but it was the only way I could follow to get my avatar up here... I use Picasa to take photos off my camera then export into a Folder that I keep for pics that I want to post - then after I have written my forum message I Browse to that Folder and get it from there... Picasa also has web albums but I couldn't figure them out!
Georgene
Linzi, I just recently downloaded Picasa software and find that it is very powerful.....but I need to learn how to use it better. I think I'll look for a tutorial or maybe a manual. I've just winged it so far. But I think I will like the program a lot. I've used it to make a collage of quilt pictures to post on the forum and that worked easily. I still had to take them to Paint to make them a smaller size for the forum though. There's probably a way to do that in Picasa, but I haven't found it yet.
sewlinzi
Clever, Georgene! What if you export your collage - it should ask you what size. Anything under 640 pioxels is good but Kath's pic above is huge - biggest I've seen on the Forum!
Georgene
Thanks Linzi, that worked.
Sparkle
When looking for free photo hosting sites. Don't overlook Picasa. I've been using it for a couple of years now. No advertising, easy to edit text under your photos. You don't have to resize your photos to upload, but they upload faster if you do some size editing.
