Tracey
OK, my computer is kaput and my lap top is dying. I have no idea how to edit pics with photoshop (on the lap top) I have a quilt whose border is driving me crazy. The rest of the quilt is done. The border is appliqued with a vine and some little leaves and hearts. How should I do it?? I wanted to use the vine as a stem and kind of do ghost quilting with tendrils and such but I can't get the image in my head to translate. Any ideas?? I will try to post a pic but I don't think I have edited the size correctly. Thanks girls and guys. Tracey

Quilting Heidi
What about doing some hook feathers. Just do spines off the applique. Another option would to be McFeather it. That would look realy pretty. You could also do piano keys if you really wanted to. Lots of space to play. How about doing leaves and tendrils and flowers to fill it in? anniemueller
Here are a few ideas to get things rolling. I'm sure there will be many more from those who've done more applique than me;)
PattyJo
I like your original idea of ghost/shadow leaves (maybe larger than the ones that are in the pics) and tendrils. You could also throw in some heart shapes and a daisy flower or 2 as well. Just use what is already on the quilt as your inspiration. I think that would really look nice. It's not a "formal" looking quilt, so I would go with your first thoughts. IMHO;)
SandraC
Sometime in the past there was a nice pic of a quilt with this type of border. It was quilted with piano keys that just went from the edge of the quilt to the vine. Between the vine and inner border was some kind of background fill. It looked really sharp. Hmmm....could have been vice-versa....with the piano keys on the inner part and fill on the outer....either way would be nice.
Butterfly
I like what Sandra just said. And if you do the piano keys on one side of the vine, how about dropping in a bunch of those daisy looking flowers (the yellow ones) in several places and filling in around them on the other side of the vine. IBQLTN2
yes, yes, the piano keys on the outside and some feathering and echoing on the inside. It will be beautiful I am sure, wonderful quilt.
JoAnnHoffman
You could add some feathers and background fill.

Liam
My first thought was piano keys like Sandra suggested and Patty's beautiful example.

suzanp
Do you think that the quilt is elegant enough to do the Mcfeathering, the piano keys on one side and vines on the other look more to the mood of the quilt, just a thought

kennan100
Just change the feathers to vines and leaves then, McVining? i would think you'd have to do something like that to keep the borders flat if you are going to piano key on either side of the vine.
