Quilting Heidi
Finally Adam has come up with a longer arm for the Quiltazoid and you can now do the long boards from the front of the machine! It is awesome!!! You will get a long arm and base plate that attaches to the quiltazoid base. Simply attach the board to the baseplate put on the longer arm and stitch away. You simple stop with your needle down, move the QZ over and keep on stitching. Goes quickly and works great. For more information please contact Linda & Adam at http://www.quiltazoid.com/contact Thanks Adam for a wonderful new addition to the Quiltazoid's capabilities! WestieMom
Heidi, Being able to do longboards from the front of the machine is a big plus. I'm still trying to decide if I should invest in QZ or CL. Thanks for sharing this information.
Quilting Heidi
I have the topper and had somebody build me a longer arm for it and that was the only way I could do my longer boards from the front and I'm just thrilled now to be able to use one tool for the whole job! meg
heidi - do you have it? does it work off the qz just like the tracing templates? with the longer arm - do you lose any space on wither side of the quilt?

Meg yes I have it and it works right on the QZ. There is a metal base that fits on top of the round base and the boards sit on that. You don't really loose any more space because the board is centered on the baseplate already there. I figure the board/arm are 24" so the arm is about 9" longer. meg
one more question...how does it attach to the qz? do you have to drill holes into the long boards?
Quilting Heidi
Meg, The plate has the gripper stuff on it and the board just clings to it. You can just clamp them on if you want but I was suprised that I didn't seem to get any movement. The base plate just screws into the existing holes on the QZ. RitaR
Meg, only the stylus end touches the long boards or block patterns.. it hooks pretty much like the short arm does. I'll have to look into it further. Though I already have a long arm of sorts. Works quite well.
quiltnutt
That is great news. I sent QZ an email. My QZ is on order and I might as well get this also. I totally dislike working from the back of the machine.

Quilting Heidi
Kristina, You will be able to use it. You can alwasy move the board a little at the end if needed. I'll try to measure on my frame how far I can quilt without a problem. The boards can be moved over to sit where the smaller boards are when you get to that end. As long as you stop with your needle down and slide the board over. Where there is a will there is a way .

GrandmaLKB
Ohhhhh. I am thinking that we could now use the long boards at an angle to do some diagonal quilting designs ???? This is VERY INTERESTING ! :P:P:P I just e-mailed them asking when available, how much, etc. Maybe they will post some info here on the forum.
