JustSewSimple
Susan, that quilt is just beautiful!!!! Your quilting looks super!!! You did all this without extra light? Wow, I can't imagine what you will do when you can see!!!

Sandra Darlington
Royal Cross? This is new to me, but I like the name, and I really like the quilt.
Neher-in-law5
What a pretty quilt and nice work. If yours shows the melon shape as distinctly as this one does, I would select a design for all the melons (maybe even feathers, you would get plenty of practice!). Then another design for the portion between the melons that would also allow you to travel to the next one without it being noticeable. The 4-patch in the center could be cc, and cc in the on point triangles, then a design to fill the rest of the center that moves into the next circle center. Quilting Heidi
I would try to work on a feather design or maybe a fern feather in the melon and then outline the curves. I would do a curved CH in the middle part.
CrazyAboutQuilting
Wow, that's pretty! I don't think I've ever seen a quilt made in that pattern before. Can't wait to see how you quilt the new one!

KarenH
I don't have any suggestions but that is a beautiful quilt, I don't ever remember ever seeing that pattern, it's wonderful.
mestuart
Beautiful quilt, inquiring minds would like to know if there is a pattern available, or directions online. Would love to have that in my stash of "one day, I'll do that" . From snowy BC where its minus 20 C.
suzanp
Royal Cross, if you go to my blog and look at December posts, there is a link to the design, it comes from Australian Patchwork and Quilting mag. from 2006 I guess, but on the link, it is there. Have fun!

marycontrary
I searched and searched and could not find the pattern for this quilt. Finally found it here http://webspace.webring.com/people/jt/tazzie_s/blocks.html
JustSewSimple
Mary, I checked out the pattern and LMAO as it said, "With a little pinning this can even be sewn on your sewing machine." I guess that was a nice way to say, "Better sew this one by hand!" :D
IQuiltToo
Simply beautiful! Love it!
marycontrary
Laughing with you Sylvia, as I don't do hand piecing -- absolutely hate it. I do love the scrappy look and effective use of value, though. I think I will try it by machine when I get around to it, which means it could be a long time coming. John Flynn also has acrylic templates for a 10 inch block. This pattern is supposed to be 12 inches finished.
Sheri Butler
I say get away from behind your machine ...and practice from the front since it's your own quilt! Have you tried Myrna's feathers? They are the easiest in my opinion! No Bump Bump! Go ahead! Do those feather's in the melons and use your CH rulers in the Cross! Do you have the curved CH rulers? That would be soooo pretty! Get that dry erase board and draw a melon, and draw those feathers on there first, then head to your machine to quilt your quilt! suzanp
This is what I did, I need a design to do the feathers, I tried but couln't get them right, I did use the Hartley fence to do the circles.
LibbyG
This is really nice! I like it much better than the pantograph.
quilted charm
I'm a newbie, and I can draw feathers all day long on the dry erase board, but once I get on the longarm, my brain goes dead on changing directions, so they look really pretty on one side and totally wonky on the other:) Oh, well, practice, practice as they say. Good thing I have a lot of UFO's to practice on huh? Really like your design you ended up with though. way to think "outside the box" as they say. Kathleen Kearney
I love what you did thats so different the feathers are nice but this makes it more yours. I also like the quilt pattern where did you get it.
Neher-in-law5
Nice work on this quilt. You did some nice design changes in the center and the melons. I, too, like this better than the all over style. Kathleen, keep going up a few posts, there is a link to the pattern templates, marycontrary has it posted on this page about 5 up from the picture.
