To mark the hearts, I have quite a few Fiskars Templates and use my Marvy Marker to mark the hearts (or whatever shape I'm wanting) and stitch away. Saw Myrna Ficken using the Fiskars Templates in her video - great help. http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/EP4508554.htm Bummer though, I checked with Fiskars and they don't make the heart one anymore - told 'em that was a mistake.
