carmen
I have a, Triple Irish chain quilt, to do next. On the open block, she wants a wreath. The blocks are supposed to be 9"sq. but not a single one is. The blocks, go from 8 7/8" to 8 1/2" I want to use my Circle Lord's Featherz template. What should I do? HELLLLLLLLLLLP:( Carmen
Hollyrw
Can you do an 8 inch wreath with the CL?
carmen
Hi Holly, No, it goes 8.5 or
IBQLTN2
Carman I would first measure to find the smallest block and test the template out on this block with no thread in just to see if you can fit it in there enough to stay within the block. If not and it will look odd than maybe you can use something different in alternating blocks that would be a tiny bit smaller. other than that I would be trying it freehand, I guess!! ramona-quilter
I am glad somebody else gets these stinkers besides me. First, I think that you are wise to choose a motif that minimizes the bad piecing. I think that I would use the 7" feather and then do some medium stipple around it. Nobody sees the background quilting, anyway, they'll just see the wreath and not even notice the block sizes are off.
Quilting Heidi
I'm with Linda. If you feel like it needs more quilting just do a stipple around it.
Hollyrw
I agree with Linda too. Use the 7 inch wreath and a background fill. You could even echo around the wreath once.
carmen
Thanks Ladies, I will do as Linda and Heidi suggest. I tell you, sometimes, I want to pack it in. As usual you gals save me. Bless You All, Carmen
LindaFritchen
Putting all this advice in my folder as these are the puzzling things I seem to come upon too often. Thanks everyone.
MarieBrewer
I think there is a 7.5 feather on the template. Perhaps you could use the 7.5 and echo around it and go off in the corner and do a squiggly of some sort.
Sandra Darlington
I'm working on a quilt and using the feather wreath. I echoed the wreath and then meandered the space around the wreath. Some of my blocks are not exactly the same size, either, and it seems to blend in and not show up the less than perfect piecing.

yankiequilter
Very nice! I can see you had a challenge with the irregular size blocks but your quilting is lovely and helps to hide the imperfections of the piecing. Great job!
