lindasewsit
I don't know how to make my paint picture smaller.
witha'K'quilting
try going to Paint and choosing Resize/reskew under Tools I believe. and make like 25% of the original.
lindasewsit
The faces range in size some are 10 1/2 x 8... some are 8 x 8... I think that might be a problem with trying to make a circle around them.
Quilting Heidi
Oh I so love this quilt. Here is my idea! Kind of the same as everybody else but a little different more elegant type of feather frame. She did a fabulous job with that embroidery. My guess from the picture is that the pictures are bigger than 6" which means that you have to nail that embroidery down. I would use monolon thread for that part and simply go around the major areas, just enough to give it dimension but not take away from the elegantness (word) of the embroidery. Quilting Heidi
Linda can you do an oval instead?
Quilting Heidi
Linda to make the paint picture smaller go to image - choose stretch/skew. Go down to 50 x 50. If that is too small hit undo and then go 75 x 75.
lindasewsit
Oh Heidi!! I love it!! That is almost EXACTLY what was in my head!! but with the heads being different sizes, do you think that will be a problem?
sspingler
I did a Hummell quilt for a customer and I quilted a circle around each one and did a fancy feather design in the corners to fill up space.
IBQLTN2
linda copy the picture from here as you should have it the correct size and doodle on it in paint then save and bring it back. hope it works for you. I want to see what your ideas are.

quiltmonkey
I like the idea of keeping it simple without much stuff to distract from those pretty little girls and the lovely handwork. Perhaps do some McTavishing fill about 2-3 inches around the faces (head, shoulders, bonnets, etc) and then do crosshatching in around the outer edges of each block. You could stagger the crosshatching around the McTavishing and faces (so it doesn't touch the McTavishing lines) so it gives it a little more interest in the background. Or just to keep it really simple, just crosshatch the entire background and stagger the xhatching so it doesn't touch the threadwork. OK I just noticed Heidi's idea. That looks really pretty, Heidi!! McTavishing fill would be pretty in place of the crosshatch (not so time consuming) but I really like the way Heidi did her feathers!!

PattyJo
As far as stitching in the embroidery, I would follow her stitching but with monopoly thread - maybe just around the bonnet and a few other lines just to anchor it so that it is secure and not a big bubble of unquilted area. lindasewsit
Patty Jo, That 's what Heidi suggested too.... I'm nervous to start this quilt, but excited too! It is soooo lovely!
Gator
I think it's screaming cross hatch. I like everyones ideas but I'm going with Heidi's suggestion. I agree, keep it simple, the embroidery should be the poppers.
Quilting Heidi
I love this quilt and so would love to know the pattern maker. I wonder if it is digitized because I could stitch it on my embroidery machine. No chance of me having any time to do it by hand. I want one! It is just beautiful. Sheri Butler
ya know.....I think I saw these patterns on e-bay from a seller who sells "copies" of vintage embroidered designs. I may just have to see if i've saved her as a favorite seller. If I can find her, i'll post back. I just know i've seen them.....somewhere...grrrrrrrrrr, dang menopausal brain! peglu
I think Sheri is right. I also saw these blocks. Can't remember if it was a stamped embroidery set, or a digitized embroidery design. I'll see if I can find them again.
