jmcclannan
So I got out my troubleshooting guide when my thread started breaking on a quilt today. I changed thread, changed needle, checked the thread path, checked for burrs, etc, etc,, called Sheri B. and decided to check timing. DRAT!!! Thread was still breaking when my husband noticed the thread guide right above the needle was moving around. He tightened the screw and guess what! Yep - I had a screw loose!!!:cool::cool:

Antoinette
You probably still have a screw loose but the machine one is tight again. Although I don't think your loose screw would cause your thread to break

Sheri Butler
Jewels....First the bobbin thread twisted around the wheels...then a screw loose? LOL!! And I thought those things only happened to me. (ask Mary Beth). I am soooo glad your hubby is like mine...able to help when needed on our machines! Blue Ribbon for Herb today!!! Starrynight Quilter
Don't you just hate that? I'll bet you that will be one of the first things you will check from now on. You spent how much time diagnosing the problem, dh walks in and voila, problem solved..... well, lesson well learned. I never would have thought to look for that. Gator
Yep, all those guides will move on you!!! I had the same thing except my thread was getting caught after the guide before the needle bar guide. The guide turned just enough to nicely put the thread in the seam where the two pieces of the cover metal came together. I now tighten all the guides when I do my "machine maintenance".
