rcck00
This is the first time I\'ve tried uploading a picture, hope it works!! If there are photos below would you please give me any ideas you might have for quilting this table runner? The piecer gave me the standard "you\'re the professional, I trust you!" line... and now I\'m going to the professionals for advice!! Thanks! chickenscratch
I would accent the floral and heart shapes by stitching right on them. In the background I would do some kind of fill, maybe McTavishing, but not real tight and small; just enough to lay that down so the shapes pop up. Of course, I\'m not a professional, so maybe some of them will answer.
rcck00
Thanks, Teresa! I was thinking along the same lines... I was thinking maybe a feather (heartshaped?) over the hearts... I have a really nice variagated cream for the background... but I\'m not sure what color to use on the hearts... Ideas? Thanks!
Stagecl
My first thoughts were of Mc Tavishing in the background, but inside the background of the hearts feathering. Echo quilting inside the tulips and in the white flowers create petals? Cheryl
quiltmonkey
Oh goodness this is so pretty and when you get this quilted it will be stunning! I can\'t wait to see what you do with it so please post a "finished" photo, too. I love the "before" and "after" shots!
Quilting Heidi
Cathy, I would accent the flower shapes and let those really stand out. Like in the daisy do oval echo with a swirl in the gold. On the tulips do a tulip shape. On the leaves do a \'s\' swirl. In the background I think I would just do a swirly meander and definitely do heart feathers with curly cues coming off the heart. I would do a neutral thread. I would guess that mother-goose would look nice on this...I\'m always surprised how many places that color works. Be sure to post pics.
rcck00
Thanks for all of the great ideas! This is what I\'ve come up with, so far. I\'m not sure how to do Tulips in the Tulips.... Any more input on the Tulips would be really appreciated. So, what do you all think?
sewlinzi
Your sketch looks great - nice quilting without being overwhelming - go for it! LINZI x
Sandra Darlington
I think your sketch looks like a great answer. I like it a lot.
shadows4
I like your idea. I also thought of SID around the red parts and the flowers when I first saw it. Then a fill around those and maybe stitch some identical flowers in the fill area. I\'m sure you\'ll make it beautiful!!
suzanna
Whatever you decide, it will look absolutely gorgeous. Shana is right, can\'t wait to see the "after" picture. You go girl....
victoriasews
I don\'t know how to draw on your picture so I\'m attaching a picture that shows somewhat what I\'d like to get across. Put a pumpkin seed shape in the middle of the tulip then stitch up the long narrow parts and make a bit of a "forked tongue" at the top and head back down to the bottom, then do the same up the other side. Hope this is a bit clearer than mud. The table runner is absolutely stunning. I love your feather idea for the red areas.
Bonnie
Maybe in the Tulips you can do something that will elongate them....maybe a feather that is long on each side and each festher part gets smaller towards the center as the longer edges go from the bottom to the top. I\'m sorry I don\'t have my pencil hooked to this computer so can\'t draw what I\'m trying to say.
Jeannine
That is a Pam Bono pattern and I\'m attaching a picture from her website of the actual piece quilted. It doesn\'t really show to much, but thought I\'d send it anyway.
ncutt
You know, I don\'t like all the cross hatching on the finished pic. I like your idea better! Since the tablerunner is pieced, it makes the straight lines show more, whereas yours, give some softness to the tablerunner.
JenMcManus
Victoriasews, I love your tulips, they are fantastic! Cathy, Your feathers will look great. I can\'t wait to see the completed runner. Beautiful pattern. Jen
chickenscratch
I agree. YOur idea is much better than that crosshatching. That hides the designs. What you are doing will enhance the designs.
rcck00
Thanks, everyone!! I really appreciate all of the ideas and comments. I will post another picture when I get it done. Thanks again, you all are wonderful!!
jmyhogan
Wow. THis is a beautiful pattern. Jeannine, I went to the Pam Bono site to see about buying the pattern but not knowing the name of I couldn\'t find it. Do you have the name? Victoriasews, Yours is a beautiful quilt too and beautifully quilted! Did you make the tulip pattern or can it be purchased?
Jeannine
I can\'t believe it. I went to the Pam Bono sight where I got the picture from and now I can\'t find it! What did she do, drop it! I\'ll keep looking, because I know I have it in one of my many magazines. Sorry for the confusion!
Quilting Heidi
I have this pattern in one of my books. I\'ll get the book name when I get home. I\'m sure a friend got the book for me at Joanns. There is a rose quilt in a trellis design that I wanted to play with and do but there are so many pieces I never got to doing it. I wanted to redesign the layout.
seakitten
Here it is: <http://www.pambonodesigns.com/content/content-article.asp?ArticleID=84>. Apparently this pattern was published in one of Pam\'s books & the one shown in the photo was quilted by a lady in England. It\'s a beautiful design & I DO think Cathy\'s will be more striking. How do you guys do that where you "draw" over someone else\'s photo? Not that it will help this techno-klutz, I still haven\'t taken the time to figure out how to post a photo. Jeannine
I found it. On the website. In her book "Dear Pam, ....". Click on the link and you will see projects contained in the book. It\'s called the Dutch Table Runner. That one is quilted different than the one I posted. Catherine is right, the one I originally posted was quilted by a woman in England and is under the quilt gallery link. Jim and Debbie Lynn I sent you u2u messages.
