Boni
I always did love snow when I was a child. I got out early and went track hunting. Look how many different ones I found. That was a busy night! All my pansies are gone now. And there were hoof prints around every rose bush in the yard! Went to bed and DH asked me to turn on the outside light to see what the weather was doing. When I turned on the light it took me a couple seconds to focus--a buck and a doe were grazing away in the front yard! I about fell backwards--couldn't believe my eyes. DH opened the window and that buck (forked) just looked up and sniffed the air. My camera was downstairs and it was too dark for it to turn out anyway. For your enjoyment ladies. . . <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2200250990100404369aSVUhb"><img src="http://inlinethumb53.webshots.com/43764/2200250990100404369S500x500Q85.jpg" alt="DSC00643 006"></a> <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2694101390100404369dDUZGV"><img src="http://inlinethumb64.webshots.com/42175/2694101390100404369S500x500Q85.jpg" alt="DSC00625 015"></a> <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2422061650100404369wzgYKv"><img src="http://inlinethumb23.webshots.com/42646/2422061650100404369S500x500Q85.jpg" alt="DSC00623 013"></a> <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2119246780100404369eAadTG"><img src="http://inlinethumb43.webshots.com/11050/2119246780100404369S500x500Q85.jpg" alt="DSC00635 025"></a> <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2678183800100404369iePpuw"><img src="http://inlinethumb30.webshots.com/40669/2678183800100404369S500x500Q85.jpg" alt="DSC00631 021"></a> <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2463065730100404369cCErYs"><img src="http://inlinethumb28.webshots.com/25115/2463065730100404369S500x500Q85.jpg" alt="DSC00628 018"></a>
meg_marsh
I've determined to give up snow - at least living in it, but these pictures are so beautiful - I can feel the chill in the air - so crisp and fresh. When we lived in Colorado, we used to plant lots and lots of carrots and only pick about half of them. The rest we left in the ground for the bunnies. They would come and find them during the first couple of snows. My son (who is now 32) was only barely walking the first time he saw the "winter bunnies" and would sit forever watching them........ such good memories! JoleneK
Oh, how absolutely beautiful! I want to move to the snow so badly. I envy you snow bunnies.

nineva
Patty Jo, if you try to get to Spokane, please be careful. I have been trying for 2 days to get home. Snow is halfway up the garage door. Son in law can't even get close to the house in 4wd. Part of the gorge is closed and there are semi's off the road all over the area between Cascade Locks and the Dalles. It is only going to get worse over the weekend. I finally gave up going home to get clothes, etc. Not a single flight available out of PDX and the roads are too horrible. I am getting on a flight to San Diego at 4:00 today. Christmas with my son, dil and dgs. I'll go to Kohls and pick up a couple things to wear. I am NOT spending Christmas in Vancouver with honey. No way Jose. I'll have to catch up with you on the next trip. I'll be back on Sat the 27th so if you are still there, we can meet on Sunday. And to those that love the snow and want to move, I have a beautiful house in lovely N. Idaho I will sell you cheap. I've had enough!! Hollyrw
Nancy Jo, How far north are you in Idaho? I'm sure I've asked before but I forget things. I grew up in Kamiah, near Lewiston. My folks are still there. I hope the roads clear up because they're planning to drive to Bellingham, WA next week for Christmas.
DB
Jolene, I was going to offer you the use of my guest room but it seems like everyone else jumped ahead of me. Personally I am at the point that when the news reports more snow coming our way I could just about cry. So anytime you want the snow just let me know. A house with snow for a house with palms works for me. Dianne
quiltmonkey
Very nice! However I am perplexed and intrigued by these odd prints in the snow. Perhaps you have Sasquatch Bigfoot visiting your back yard?

witha'K'quilting
Shana...you are too funny. We are expecting snow this evening and then all of next week. I hope we get it. That will be fun!
Boni
DH and I took a walk this afternoon while the sun was almost shining. Here are some more of our neighborhood. Now that we're in, it has started to snow again. Neighbor has some exotic animals: <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2842556230100404369EXsnmU"><img src="http://inlinethumb17.webshots.com/43984/2842556230100404369S500x500Q85.jpg" alt="Emu in snow"></a> <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2194715950100404369qZFVrd"><img src="http://inlinethumb32.webshots.com/41375/2194715950100404369S600x600Q85.jpg" alt="More snowy country road"></a> <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2374480300100404369ApqUZD"><img src="http://inlinethumb39.webshots.com/42470/2374480300100404369S500x500Q85.jpg" alt="Rosehips in snow"></a> <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2071696730100404369qRajDP"><img src="http://inlinethumb35.webshots.com/43234/2071696730100404369S500x500Q85.jpg" alt="Deep snow in shady road"></a>
Mary Beth
My first thought when I read "track hunting" was 'how do you cook a track?' Now I get it...you are just trying to see what kind of critters are out running around in the snow... We have icky weather right now....first the bitter cold, ice pellets, then snow, then last night we were right on the line for ice...DH went deer hunting!! So, I was thinking he was a little nuts for going out there in the wilderness to shoot a critter he doesn't really like to eat (would much rather have beef). But I caught a flu bug after he left and there has been on one to take care of me...then he called and said that he has it too and was so sick that he layed down, on the ground out in the woods because he was too sick to sit up!!! It has been confirmed....He is nuts!!! In writing that, I was thinking of what a "track" that would have looked like....Big Foot...sprawled out in the woods :P
Boni
I "caught" this one on film! Ah ha, one set of tracks identified! That little black critter is looking for birds for a meal! The birds are eating the apples in that tree, and all around on the ground. <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2714204660100404369aPbyXF"><img src="http://inlinethumb29.webshots.com/30684/2714204660100404369S600x600Q85.jpg" alt="Black Cat"></a>
Boni
I talked to a friend in Columbia, MO this morning and he said the wind was bad there, but the snow and ice was gone. We're in for more freeze this weekend, but the forecast is rain for Christmas day. I'm sure enjoying it while I can. Hope you're all snug and warm. MB, have you tried sipping Apple Cider Vinegar? I know it sounds yucky, but mix one teaspoon in 8 ounces of hot water with a little honey. Just SIP it, and it should sooth upset tummy, sore throat, and help clean out the junk in your system. It's natural medicine! NO DRUGS. I sure hope your DH makes it home safely. Better have a hot cup of ACV for him too!
JoleneK
Thank you all for the kind offers of your extra rooms. If my boys wouldn't be upset and disown me for not being home for the holidays I'd take someone up on it. It sounds like I'd have a bit of trouble getting to any of your homes. Its too bad that the weather is causing troubles, I'm sure many airports and roads are closed. This will make it hard for families to travel this next week. Be safe in all your travels. Mary Beth
DH did make it home...but boy, is he sick! He said the snow and ice had melted at the lake where he was. Today starts the below zero temps and wind chills expected to be 20 below....I think I hear a palm tree calling my name :P
Stagecl
The pictures are beautiful. We don't get much snow here in VA, but I miss having a white Christmas:(. My daughter is driving down from CT on Sunday for Christmas...I am hoping the weather is good and the roads clear. She was expecting 6 to 10 inches of snow yesterday in her area. At least there are snow plows up there...here they are few and almost never seen.
Quilting Heidi
Cheryl, If your daughter can get out early she should leave today. We did get about 8" last night and we are due for another 8 - 12" tomorrow which is due to start my 8 am in NY so CT will be a few hours behind us. I hope she has a quick drive! Boni
It's still snowing here. It just keeps piling up and once in a while a tree will bow and drop a load--a mini blizzard! One neighbor has a blue Dane--he was wearing a coat today! <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2780072950100404369GnoYEQ"><img src="http://inlinethumb36.webshots.com/44835/2780072950100404369S600x600Q85.jpg" alt="Blue with winter coat"></a> And my rain chain is iced up already! <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2061057610100404369EkDomp"><img src="http://inlinethumb58.webshots.com/44217/2061057610100404369S600x600Q85.jpg" alt="DSC00665"></a> Last night I caught the other critter who left tracks in the snow. It may look like a cat, but it was Ricky Raccoon and his buddy. This was the best I could do without opening the window and scaring him away. <a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2607196360100404369cjvZiN"><img src="http://inlinethumb22.webshots.com/44117/2607196360100404369S600x600Q85.jpg" alt="Ricky Raccoon on the wall"></a>
