JustSewSimple
We have no homespuns for sale around here that I have seen. Where are you getting yours?

Quilting Heidi
I'd make sure they were pre-washed as they can really shrink up.
Sheri Butler
Yes, and if left in the sun..they fade REALLY REALLY bad!
doodlebug
i was just wondering if they were easy for other quilters to acquire. i have a good stash *shrug* just looking for ideas for future swaps....there are only so many fabric 'groupings' so i'm trying to think of some possiblities. sylvia- i have a LQS that is very 'folksy' they carry everything 'traditional': homespuns, wool felt, civil war repros, and shirting prints.... doodlebug
does anybody have any color scheme suggestions...? how bout this: make black and white with an additional color. ie: a black and white fabric and yellow....everyones color would be different...call it the "Plus One" swap.....but what color to make the background....i could come up with a two fabric block (like a sawtooth star) make the background the B&W and the star the color....oh, i likey that idea

Busy Quilting
Shannon, If you look on my blog you will see a Churn Dash that I did in 2003, done with homespuns and a few batiks thown in. Admittedly I have since found brighter homepuns, but to me was a bit dull and some of them had to be washed numerous times before using. www.busy-quilting.blogspot.com Lyn
PattyJo
One swap that i was in a few years ago, was a "black & white & Bright swap". You use 2 black and white fabrics (one blacker and one whiter) and then any color that is a Bright. Sashings could be either black or white solid. I used my blocks from that to make a baby quilt and the little ones love the high contrast in the fabrics.
connieb
I love the black and white plus bright idea. I even have a stash of that
JustSewSimple
You could do the churn dash in the black and white and the bright as the center square. Or not, just thinking here.
PeggyB
one color combo I like is fall shades with blue (like a medium sky blue) accent....like leaves swirling in the air. red, black, and yellow/gold I like the black and white and bright idea, and the homespun also. LauraJ
Churn dash was what I did in my first quilting classes. Ahhhhh memories. B W and bright is my vote too and I like Kristina's idea of the bright in the gray area. Fun!
