Elsie's Double Wedding Ring

Recommended Posts

This is Elsie's quilt which she pieced using Judy Niemeyer's paper piecing technique. The quilting designs include Anita Shakelford's Amish Feather border, Judy Allen's feathers in the ring center and melon center, the setting triangles are my own as well as the little motif in the flying geese. All were computer executed except for the CC in the arcs. I began doing them by hand; that got old. After doing a row, I discovered that Elsie's piecing was so precise that I did a group, saved it as a csq file, and repeated it over every melon. Now that's cheating Statler-style. The overall effect is quite charming. This is a first, or second DWR for me. Doesn't it inspire you to make one for yourself? Thanks for looking and enjoy!

Beautiful, Boni! I especially love the setting triangles and the way you have the feathers coming off the outside of the rings. As pretty as it is, I still have no desire to make a DWR...but I do have a vintage 1930's DWR top to quilt. Thanks for some great ideas!
