Garden at Midnight quilt finished

Recommended Posts

This quilt is mine. I pieced it nearly 2 years and there it sat waiting for that certain something. I decided after seeing everybody else's feathers...that this is what it needed. I have been ppp them for a while...and decided to just go for it.

The top is small, only 38" x 45". I used bamboo batting to give it an antiqued look when it is washed. I love how quilts take on a whole different look once they are washed. The back and borders are Kona Black Cotton.

This was fun to quilt. I think I am getting over my fear of feathers after quilting for nearly 4 hours on this one!

Oooh your Garden at Midnight is very beautiful! I've often wondered what flowers looked like when the sun goes down... now I know!! :P As I guessed, they are just as colorful as when the sun does shine. ;) Anyway, back to your quilt,..Kristina, you did a beautiful jiob. Now your garden is complete.

I think you've definitely conquered your fears! Its beautiful and I think your feathers are really great. I'm trying to get up the courage to fill in spaces like you did with feathers...not there yet.

Did you mark the stem first, or just go for it??

Dory, to answer your question about the stems. I did not mark anything. I quilted a stem approx 12-15" long...then filled in with feathers and some swirlies, then repeated myself.

Bonnie R: I too love black on black.

Thanks all for the nice comments. I have gotten over my fear of feathers. They add lots of texture.
