witha'K'quilting
I was practicing last night on some satin that I had. I put the shiny part of the satin inside and used the dull side as the top. Much prettier I think. I practice swirling into McT...and feathers going every which way! The piece squares to 21" x 27". Now what to do with this? I am thinking about making a purse. Any suggestions?
Quilting Heidi
purse or pillow are what come to mind. Very nice job.

DoryJM
I like the pillow idea; I think a purse would get too dirty! Looks great!
IBQLTN2
I think it would make a beautiful pillow for your bed, maybe one of those long round cylinder type with ruffles on the end. It is so soft and elegant looking. I sure wish I knew how to do something that pretty!!
AbigailE
What about a bag, or the back of a jacket?

I like this idea...I might look for a bolero pattern. No where to wear it here though. I am in a very rural area. The cows and deer and elk might like it though! I have no room for throw pillows. A purse might get too dirty. Keep up the ides...so far I like the bolero jacket idea. Thanks Boni.
LinneaMarie
How about a vest?? And put a fur collar on that beauty!!:P
Nadia Wilson
Very nice Kristina, how about a vest? You could use the quilted piece on one side and have a complimentary fabric/colour on the other side and back....wear it to any "quilty" event and show off your skills. Ha, Ha, Ha, LinneaMarie and I posted the same idea at the same time!!! Great minds!
IBQLTN2
or have the back and front lapels made out of the quilte fabric and black velvet front panels
quiltmonkey
How about you give it to me so I can keep it?
witha'K'quilting
The color is actually a soft buttercream yellow. A vest...now that is also a great idea! Thanks all. Don't worry, Shana and Vicki...there will be lots more practice satin in my future. If you u2u me your addresses, you may see such a thing appear in your mailboxes. Kay Anderson
How about a nice bed jacket? Love to read in bed? Winter ya know.
Linda G. Craig
My first thought was something wearable too. It's so lovely, it would look great as a jacket or insert in a jacket. Awesome work!
ffq-lar
Kristina, that is gorgeous!! How about using it as the shawl collar and cuffs of a re-done sweatshirt? And maybe a center-back section as well? There are great patterns/instructions for altering sweatshirts and some are beautiful.
Boni
I was going to suggest a vest too, but I didn't know how "fancy" it looked up close. The bolero is what i was thinking, just couldn't think of that name. I have a vest pattern that looks like the front of a tuxedo. It's a multi-size pattern. If you want it, I'll let you borrow it. witha'K'quilting
I am really thinking the bolero would be best. But thanks Boni for the offer of the pattern. I would love to find a bolero jacket pattern. This could be fun. I am thinking I will have to keep playing with this satin and make a larger piece of 'fabric'. It sure felt good to just let loose and quilt. No boundaries...no real idea. I love that!
Boni
This is called a "shrug". I did have a pattern for a bolero which is very similar but a bit longer in the body. Good luck searching for your pattern. If I find it, I'll be sure to let you know.
witha'K'quilting
I like that too. If only I was a seamstress. I can follow a pattern though.
Boni
Patterns are usually easy to follow. I have to read them about three times before I start. My problem is in the fitting. I've made as many garments that didn't fit as I have that did.
meg_marsh
great job - I go for the vest - vests are so versatile and can been worn so many places - dressed up / dressed down!!! Show us when you are done...
kennan100
I vote for the back of whatever you make. And lapels, collar or cuffs too.
Butterfly
Vest, purse, make-up bag, eye-glasses case, sewing machine cover, fancy placemats... So many things you could do. Oh...how about a Christmas tree skirt. Make it scalloped around the edge and bind with red. Jessica
witha'K'quilting
I think I have decided to make a capelet. More my speed than a vest, and will look fantastic with a basic black dress. Now, does anybody have a great capelet pattern that I can either borrow...or know of one for free on the net? Thanks again.
