sewlinzi
Really no painting?! ... I made it even more random/worse by scribbling all over it - a bit like boucle tweed - then I thought I could put GOLD paint on then sew on CROCHET circles if I can persuade one of my friends to make them (I have had a crochet debacle and won't go there again!) Neher-in-law5
I like it the way you have it in the picture. Just tell everyone that it is the cracks in the road next to the luciousness of the grass in the meadow beside the road! It will show others that quilting can be varied and still be right. I'd wait until you are done with the other panels, then look at it again and see if you still need to do anything for your own satisfaction. It might just be the piece that gives the eyes a rest from the other beauties you will be showing.
Linda G. Craig
Linzi, I love it just the way it is! It's really cool like that! Should have my broken dishes off to you in about a week. Looking good!

veg-girl
LEAVE IT ALONE! It may not be the way you envisaged but NO ONE else will know. Get on with the next one instead, its fine.
witha'K'quilting
I agree wholeheartedly...LEAVE IT ALONE. Do not add anything to the first panel. It looks great. In fact..everything that I have seen so far looks great! Now...I need to get busy on my panel. I hope I can do something cool like you have done! sewlinzi
All I can say is you're not standing where I am... stunt crochet friend is on standby! I think I need Madelyn to write up all my quilt blurbs - that sounds properly artistic!

Sandra Darlington
I like the "scribble" too. Even things you don't feel are up to your standards, look great to me and everyone else on the forum. You're awesome!
LauraJ
Linzi, the phrase I have used in the past when something went really wonky is "primitive". That quilting is for sure "primitive". I like it a whole lot and think it adds character and is meant to be.
PattyJo
Linzi - I love it - No painting and no frogging. Leave it just as it is. It looks like you planned it to be just like that. BEAUTIFUL;)
ReisingStarQuilts
Linzi, both panels are just great. Leave the paint brush alone!! Get on with the next panel and call these 2 done!!
sewlinzi
OK,OK... just a bit more scribble, then I'll bind it and maybe tweak it later... moving on! Apart from the panels I have 504 square FEET of roof to quilt too - can't be slow there. Busy dyeing and cutting - my machine won't get a chance to cool down! I wish someone would paint the door, though or it will have to be naked (unadorned).
Gator
Linzi, I actually think it is cool. Looks like one of those hand made scarves made out of thread, laying across a beautiful quilt!!! I would leave it just like it is.
sewlinzi
Thank, Connie... I'm still thinking but about to bind it anyway. If I managed to get up as early as some of the people on this forum, I would achieve a lot more in my day!! 5 or 6am on a Sunday??!...
Sheri Butler
Linzi dear, I'm with Linda re: the Gold Lame', tack'd down with buttons (colored buttons the same as the other fabrics!!!) That will tie the whole thing together!!!!! Ya gotta leave it girl!! Work WITH it! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!
Sandra Darlington
Hey Linzi, I finally figured out what to piece and it is now on the frame. Did you ever hear of Gees Bend quilts? They currently have some in kit form in Keepsake catalog, if you get that, or check it out on line. Anyway, I am using one of those quilts as my "inspiration." Of course, the Gees Bend quilters didn't use gold lame (at least I don't think so).
sewlinzi
I adore Gees Bend quilts... I bet if they had gold lame they would have used it at every opportunity!
CindyT
Linzi, I'm with Connie on this one! I think it looks really cool and unique! Remember the picture I sent you of "Train Wreck" and you loved it? This is kind of the same principle. Leave it be and let it shine! I'm sending "Train Wreck" tomorrow for you to work your magic. Crochet, huh? Wait til you get my package!
sewlinzi
You know, I don't think I will come up with any poncey names for these panels... "Train Wreck" sticks and so does "Pub Carpet"...
Sandra Darlington
Not only the gold lame, but lots of gold thread, too. It's not really metalic, so it is behaving better. It is a gold color by Fil-ec-(Glide thread). Next weekend I'm going to try to find some crystals, too. Betcha they didn't use crystals, either.
