quiltingjoyful51
I just smashed my thumbnail under my hopping foot. It was like slow motion as it folded in half. I din't break the skin but it sure is purple. I was doing ruler work too close to the bar. Won't do that again.

BethDurand
Ouch! Add to the list of things to not do is to hold your hand so that the needle bar screw smacks you when you have your hand in the wrong spot. Strange, they don't list these things in the manual of what not to do.
quiltingjoyful51
I thought of you Mary Beth when it happened.. I put it in cold water and took two pain pills right away. So far so good. It is a very pretty shade of blue. I expect to lose the nail. An it hurts if I bump it.

Liam
OUCH!!! Joyce I am on the safety team where I work, so according to OSHA standards any possible pinch points must be painted warning sign yellow and labeled "pinch point" if your unable to place a guard around it. But I'm sure painting your hopping foot yellow is mute, since you learned the hard way that is a pinch point. Lets hope you don't do that again! PamelaA
Maybe we should suggest to APQS to paint all the hopping feet yellow. Hope it heals fast as we do need our thumbs. Pamela

shirleyl
I've tried getting my finger with the hopping foot and the needle. Can I say ACRYLIC NAILS TO THE RESCUE! It only cracked the acrylic both times and it was just a little tender. Might be a good excuse to get your nails done!!! Hope it feels better soon. If it gets too throbby heat up a pin and put a hole in the fingernail it will help. Shirley
