KathG
Hi everyone I have just received two strange U2U's from someone called JOY1 I am posting the U2U for you to see rather than try to explain what was said in it. I do not know this person. Has anyone else had anything like this. It is a little worrying get this type of thing in our U2U's I am guessing this person must have joined APQS to be able to send U2U's, so could one of the moderators see if we can get this person banned. Thanks for any help with this. Here is the U2U I received Mrs. Joy Gardner (From London, UK ) I am Mrs. Joy Gardner; widow of late Mr. Graham Gardner who was among passengers aboard Air France Flight 447 that crashed in the Atlantic Ocean en route from Rio de Janeiro Brazil to Paris France on 01/06/2009 killing all 216 passengers and 12 crew members including my husband. You can get details of the plane crash through the web link below. http://www.slideband.com/slide/1662_Air-France-Flight-447----55-bodies-recove... I am presently undergoing medical treatment for ovarian cancer in a Hospital but recently, my Doctor told me that my condition has worsened and it is obvious I may not survive unless by special grace of God . We were married for twelve years without children though we were both Christians. Before the death of my husband, he had deposited a sum of Tow Million, five hundred thousand (2,500,000 Euro) in a Prime bank hoping to set up trust fund. Presently, the money is still with the Bank unclaimed. For this I decided to donate the fund for humanitarian purposes through a church, God fearing individual or organization that will use it to support orphanage homes, old people’s homes, widows and propagation of word of God. I took this decision because we don't have children that will inherit the money and my husband had earlier decided to establish trust fund before his untimely death. I therefore request you to accept this proposal and help me to achieve my heart desire by receiving the fund and carrying out the humanitarian projects as appointed administrator. If you accept this offer, you will be entitled to 10% of the 2.5 Million Euro as your running cost or compensation, while the balance should be used for humanitarian projects. If you will be of assistance to me, please reply immediately. I will surely appreciate and thank you for your kindness in giving me this help. Please reply me with my E-mail Address joy_gardner@hotmail.fr Yours sincerely Mrs. Joy Gardner. jmcclannan
Definitely a scam. I've heard of similar scams here in Nebraska. What an evil person to call themselves Christians and then try to cheat people.
Guest Linda S
Yep - if she wants to give her money to charity, she can do just that, instead of involving you. These people really fry my cookies.
JustSewSimple
I got 5 of these. Wish there was some way to prevent this.
sspingler
I get these in my emails all the time. It's spam but not sure why you are getting them in your U2U.
Quilting Heidi
This is clearly spam. I just received the same 4 u2u's as you did. Just delete them like you would an email. I always evaluate emails this way, if I don't know the name it gets deleted. Definitely don't open attachments! These scammers obviously get some poor suckers to send them money or they wouldn't continue to send them!
Busy Quilting
Is there a way we can report the fraudulent use by this member. We can report the posts why not the U2U as well.
ffq-lar
I just reported Kath's post and asked that joy1 be banned. You can also contact admin with an email. Yes, Mr. Gardner died in the crash and lived in England with his wife Joyce. Perhaps Kath was chosen because of where she lives. To be more authentic, this nasty scammer stooped to using "JoyGardner" in the email address but I think the "fr" part is France. You can set up any name in an email address that isn't yet used. Nasty nasty nasty..... Preying on the sympathies of kind people--and they wouldn't do it unless it worked. Lots of these bogus pleas for help went out after 9/11, Katrina, and other disasters. They depend on people's goodwill and kindness and then reap the rewards. We had a large family in Seattle that raked in thousands claiming they were displaced by Katrina. Unfortunately, they had lived in Seattle for 15 years--scummy.
KathG
Linda ,thank you. I was not sure who to report this too with receiving it in a U2U. It saddens me how low some people will go, and to use the names of real people who where lost in that tragic incident.

I delete all e-mails received from people we don't know.........same with phone calls..........we don't recognize the number, we don't answer ! At least on e-mail, I can add their domain to my blocked sender list.

KerriM
I just received this e-mail from Joy Gardner also. It went right to my spam mail. She must have got all our e-mail address from this list. This is just a variation of that common e-mail scam. So bad. Kerri
