SherryRogers
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE 4 tablespoons flour 4 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons baking cocoa 1 egg 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil 3 tablespoons chocolate chips(optional) A small splash of vanilla essence 1 coffee mug Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla essence, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The Cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night! Life is gooooooood! April W
You are such a 'bad girl'!!! Do you know how many of us are now scrounging for the list of ingredients to see if this really works. What a quick fix for those of us who are chocolate impaired. (Meaning those who have to have chocolate for any crisis.) Lucky me I have everything I need too. Thank you Sherry!!!
Darlene Epp
Sherry, that is just plain EVIL! Hubby is doing so well with Weight Watchers I'll have to make these at 3 AM!!! You are bad, bad, bad!! LOL Problem is, "curious" is my middle name, so of course I'm going to have to try this out just to make sure it doesn't work! I wonder how many WW Points are in that mug! Nope! Don't wanna know! BTW, spell EVIL backwards and it says LIVE!

quiltmonkey
Hey! Great idea. Now when I see photos of Sherry's quilting studio (or, let's just say any of you all's studio), I will completely understand why you all have a microwave oven, set of coffee mugs and baking ingredients sitting on a table near your longarm machines.... seakitten
Darlene: It is approximately 17 WW points, counting the choc. chips (because, at that point, why not?), but not counting the mug.
Quilting Heidi
Sherry you are a dream! THANKS! I think I'll keep a stash of supplies at work for those bad days...like today!
lizziesgirl
I wonder if you could substitute Angel Food cake mix and add the cocoa powder to give the chocolate and cut back on the weight watcher points....

Hmmm, that leaves me 3 points for the rest of the day. I can do that, maybe.
quiltmonkey
I think we could come up with enough recipes to write a cook book full of 5-minute microwave mug cakes.
dtreusch
5 minutes away from warm chocolate any time of day. Wow, I'm going to have to try this. Debbi
ffq-lar
Should I swirl in the caramel sauce before or after cooking??!! Guess I better try it both ways!! I'll get back to you!
Boni
I was going to ask about substitutions too, to make it less fat, fewer calories, healthier, you know. BUT when life gets you down, sometimes you just need the WORKS for a wonderful Pick-me-up. I have two pounds to go and then I'm going to stock my pantry with Cake-in-a-Jar mixes. Sounds like the mug should be microwave proof. I'll use my pint canning jars and not worry about the mug. Make them up ahead of time and put a lid on it. Add the liquid stuff when I'm ready to cook it. Thanks Sherry. You're not EVIL or bad:mad:. You're the GREATEST!:P
BethDurand
Thanks for posting this, now I'd like to try it, but thankfully, chocolate cake is not my favorite. Also to Catherine, thanks for figuring out how many points that would be. I've earned 4 so far today, but that still leaves a lot for that cake! seakitten
Great ideas all. Let's see, if we have it for breakfast & splash on enough of that caramel sauce, we will have used up all our points & won't have to eat again for the rest of the day. Think what a timesaver! Boni
All I had was whole wheat pastry flour and white vanilla chips. I think it needs a pinch of salt. AND it NEEDS caramel, AND coconut ice cream.:P While it was cooking it did rise above the opening of the jar, but as soon as it stopped and I opened the door, it fell.
