Beachside Quilter
Hi Everyone, This is a quilt called "Slide Show". My customer doesn't care how it is quilted. Does anyone have an idea? Thanks a bunch! Trying to post a picture for the first time, will see if it works! Bonnie
As lovely as it is, its still very very busy.....I think something simple like a BF, or swirls or a nice open E2E would be better, but then that's the simple me. Someone else will see something in each box and a design in the borders and something in the checkered area. I'm all for simple and traditional. LadyLake
Ideas: Repeat objects from the border into the large blocks (Christmas trees, holly, stockings, and poinsettas -- one object per block). SID around large and small blocks, then quilt a small Christmas theme meander (ball ornaments?) in the polka dot white. Holly in the border. Sallyquilt
Nice quilt but so busy quilting may not show well. I'd suggest an e-2-e of a holly meander. Just a thought. Sally
Quilting Heidi
I'm with Bonnie on this one. It seems that the busy fabrics wouldn't really show custom work. You could of course just do a holly meander in all the background areas and do motifs like Joan suggested. I would also say if your customer wants custom you should give it to her. Merryjo2003
I think I'd just find a nice Christmas panto because it's so busy. Cute quilt! I've quilted a few photo/memory quilts like it. It does kinda give you the film strip feeling.
kimmiequilts
I'd do and all over as well, maybe a gold thread to brighten it up and give it some sparkle.
Rita
totally agree with the above -but what fantastic fabrics!

Boni
Here is one I found that looks like a possibility
Beachside Quilter
That's neat, Boni. How is it done? I'm confused about what to do with the horizontal/vertical sashings. If I have a design going horizontally, what will I do with the vertical sashings in between the blocks? The blocks are 7-1/2" and the sashing is 1-1/2" with 1-1/2" tiny squares. The border is 6". Any ideas are appreciated!! Vickie Oliver Beachside Quilter APQS Rep SW FL
Bonnie
Vicki I am on the blackberry. Our elecricity went out this morning and am still out. I will get to it as soon as possible. No one seems to know why we are out but National Grid keeps going to each house trying to find the problem.
witha'K'quilting
I believe that a holiday pantograph is in order for this quilt.
ffq-lar
I'm on the side of a holly meander or Christmas panto in gold thread. BL has a gold that is thin enough to not overwelm the white and still be seen on the darks.
Boni
I'm not positive that this is what was used, but here is one by Debra Geissler called A-Maze-ing E2E. You can get the idea at least. . .
kennan100
Really cute quilt! I can see custom on it. A metallic thread would be good. Do the motif in the big blocks as already suggested, ribbon candy in the two strips of white in the sashings, and then in the tiny center blocks in the sashing do big pebbles, maybe add a little curl into the middle of each pebble and back out to the next pebble since the pebbles will be pretty big.. Seperate those three sections with SID, but not each tiny block. SID the borders and do a holly, leaves, and berries meander in the borders. Clear as mud? juliagraves
I like the ideas of holly and berries in the border and sashing. What about doing different large textures in the large blocks? Make one block all vertical lines, another horizontal, another diagonal to the left, another diagonal to the right, one with circles randomly on it, etc. Julia
kimmiequilts
Cool design Boni! I always have a hard time deciding to do anything angular on the quilts, that design reminds me of circuit boards. I think I'd do the Holly leaves and berries with loops all over on this quilt. Beachside Quilter
Thanks to you all for the great ideas. She doesn't want custom, so I'm going with a holly panto in green variegated thread. Will hopefully post pics when I'm done. Off to order the panto....
