Georgene
I inherited these Pansy Cross Stitch blocks. My freind allowed me to look through her bag of fabrics and such that she would be placing on the freebie table at our guild. We share like this all the time. In that bag, I found these cross stitch blocks. They were all wrinkled up, had been washed, and of course the ends were frayed from the washing. They had been given to her some time ago. The old quilt pattern was even still with the pieces. And we even know who stitched the blocks. She is deceased; her son is about 80 years old now. Since piecing is not my thing, I thought I could make a quilt easily from these blocks. So I took the blocks home, pressed them, cut them all to size, found the perfect green fabric in my stash, and did a simple crosshatch quilting design -- using Circle Lord Zig Zag template. It only took me a couple hours to quilt it. It's about 70" square. Since taking these pictures I have bound it with a green and purple fabric that really accentuates the Pansies. I have fallen in love with the quilt. We've had so much snow and ice lately, this quilt reminds me that Springtime will be here eventually. Joy
Hi Another customer quilt it so only 50 x 45 inches with no pattern, She done candlewick all over it in designs , and I used the tile template to do the border so easy
Georgene
This 33" x 44" quilt required NO PIECING. I layered it as usual, except I used two top fabrics over the batting and backing. The bottom of the two tops is a colorful batik. Then I quilted it with the 7 Treasures of Budha template. Then I randomly marked with school chalk the "flowers" I wanted to cut out. Then I cut the top fabric only about 1/4 or so from the stitched lines and clipped the edges to help them fray. Then I washed and dried it and wow, I think I like it. And what an easy way to make a quick yet interesting quilt. I love the no piecing part.

Georgene
Linda, As for quick baby quilts, what if you quilted a very large piece, maybe even using some wide back material, and then cut it up into smaller baby quilts. You could get at least 4 quilts that way, I think, maybe more, depending on how big you make it.
Hawaii
Georgene, This technique and your little "wholecloth/cut-out" quilt are innovative and inspiring!! It just amazes me how you and others are stepping it up to creatively use these tools! I just tried using the crosshatching template to make a little chenille quiltlet. It was fast and fun! Backing: flannel; Chenille: 4 layers of Rayon (which is very soft). This is for my little GD - car "binkie".
Georgene
Well that certainly is inspiring too. I love it. And green and purple are two of my favorite colors. I wonder how many other ideas we can come up with.
