Neher-in-law5
This is a quilt for our church pianist who is having hip replacement Monday. So the theme is music in all the fabrics. A mixture of printed blocks and 4 that I embroidered. They are: "Music is Noteworthy", When in doubt, Sing loud!" "Without music life would B b (flat)" and "Sing like nobody's listening!" Neher-in-law5
One of the printed blocks. I did a squiggle around each block.
Neher-in-law5
My son saw them and said: "those are pretty uniform, now you can work on another design." Lovely attitude! On a table runner he had asked if I knew any other design besides feathers.
Neher-in-law5
The back. The center is a gold with music instruments and signs on it. The borders are yardage that goes with the printed blocks. The whole quilt is about 57 x 58 inches (almost square!)
Neher-in-law5
The embroidery. When I showed this to the woman, she both laughed and cried. When as a kid, she would mow the yard singing at the top of her lungs. She didn't think anyone would hear her over the sound of the lawn mower. Her mother was in the house and could never hear the mower. Love it!. All quilting is done on George.
Neher-in-law5
another, the strings are pearle cotton that people at church tie while praying for the one who receives the quilt.

RitaR
Madelyn, that quilt is so unique, bet the receiver as well as the maker are too.. pretty piano keys and trim on the embroidered blocks.. I had hip surg. in Jan. and if she keeps active, moves feet, both of them, and does the required exercises each day, she will be out and going within a month. You are sweet to think of her in this way.. Ritar
