lindasewsit
I just can't get in the mood to quilt! I have a simple panto quit on that would probably only take a couple of hours to do if I would just do it, and it's been on my frame for 3 days! BLAH!! Just venting.... peglu
Put on your jammies, turn up the music and just do it. You'll be glad you did. Just go work on it for 15 minutes. If your still not in the mood, then quit; but I bet you'll finish it once you get started. Peggy
witha'K'quilting
I say, Go QUILT! As Peggy said, once you start...I bet you'll finish in no time. Besides, you don't make any money sitting around. Crank up the tunes and Go For It!
Della
We all have those days...lol Mine seem to come when I have TOO much to do...get overwhelmed and then just sit there...lol
Bonnie
Sounds like first stages of burn out. Might need to finish this one and take few weeks vacation. .
Littleshoes
I feel that way when I take a break. After the Christmas rush here, I took some me time, then I didn't want to start again. Push through it, you will be back in the swing of things again soon. Maybe start a new piecing project to get you back in your quilting room. Quilting Heidi
Linda I've not been quilting much until the last couple of weeks. I have a customer quilt on the frame now and it was loaded for a week before I actually committed to a design and started quilting it. I know just how you feel! It is almost done and I'm so hoping for a quick panto. The custom quilts and burning me out.
LibbyG
I always feel like this. I just hate to load a quilt. But once I do and start quilting, I don't want to stop.
Merryjo2003
Ha! I have a custom quilt loaded for 2 weeks that I can't seem to get started on! Just not in the mood! I have pieced 15 table runners, 2 laps, 3 queens, and 2 king size tops! Felt good to just sew.
GrandmaLKB
I have spells like that..........."just don't feel like it ". I was all fired up to do some serious machine quilting again after spending a lot of time piecing...........then I caught a cold and felt like CRAP for 3 days. Hoping to get back down there tomorrow. Going to be gone most of next week, so that takes care of that. Only MY quilts waiting to be quilted, so no money lost.
ffq-lar
Sounds like we all have a case of the "when will winter be over" blues! I also shut down when I have too much to do. Or when I can't face another lumpy/bumpy creation. Or when I need to quilt full speed through my two days off from the day job. Or when I crave chocolate. Or when it's rainy. Or sunny. Or snowy. Or when I have a hangnail. Or or or... Let's just say, I can find lots to do instead of quilting--like chatting with my forum family!!
ffq-lar
On a more serious note--whenever I unload a finished quilt I immediately load the next one. That keeps me on track more than anything else.
peglu
That's a really good idea Linda. I should get in the habit of doing that. Then, when I have to be at work at 5 p.m, I can quilt a bit before I go. I always tell myself I don't have enough time to start something. I like your idea. Antoinette
Just commit to fifteen minutes. If you still don't feel like quilting then don't but most of the time that fifteen minutes is all you need to get you going again. Remember, you can do just about anything for fifteen minutes. Sandra Darlington
I seem to go through that, too, but right now I am having "withdrawal" symptoms because my Liberty is in Carroll for a spa treatment. I keep looking at the empty table.
Corey
I thought I was alone to have spells like that, good to know its normal feeling because I really love the whole process of quilting. Corey

Guest Linda S
I think it's the grey weather. I've had a quilt on the frame for nearly a month. It's custom, but I just don't want to do it. I'm not really sure why, but I'm having the hardest time making myself get up there!
GrandmaLKB
Yayyyyyy ! I made myself go down and finish mine today. Didn't take lone - just getting up and doing it. I thought about loading another one, but I am going to be gone for a week and might have a small baby quilt coming in soon after I get back. I'll do that one, then move on to another one of my own. CindyT
Two weeks ago I was not in the mood to quilt for two days...now I'm not in the mood to get my books ready for the tax man and want to quilt instead. It's a vicious cycle. haha I MADE myself sit down yesterday with the books. Today will be a quilt day.
IBQLTN2
my song and dance exactly. I sure have very long dry spells where I just cant seem to get motivated at all. Hopefully, I am just over one of those. I have lots of quilts that I should be getting done. I agonized over finishing my quilt show entries and now that is done. So, after this upcoming weekend of lots of inspiration at our show, I hope to get back at it once again. Good Luck Linda. I certainly know where you are coming from. I still am thinking of a whole cloth but havent done the first thing about it yet. I also think there is a direct correlation between the mess in my quilting studio and my ambition to work. Seems once my studio becomes a disaster I dont want to venture up and look at it as then I would have to do something about it. Who wants to clean when you could be sewing anyway, but if there is such a mess you cant find stuff then cleaning it has to be. I think that is what keeps my studio door CLOSED!! anyone else?
