witha'K'quilting
Hi all. I made this quilt for my son's class to raffle off in May for a trip they are going on. It is made of men's denim shirts along with my favorite Kona black and a white/star cotton fabric. The backing is from a denim duvet cover. The pattern is from Bonnie Hunter Bricks and Stepping Stones. I just love her patterns! I quilted it in an allover double/triple loop freehand design with Maxilock Swirls Denim colored thread on top and So Fine in the bobbin. I had a lot of fun making this quilt...and hope to have it trimmed and bound this weekend. It should make a great stadium quilt! Thanks for looking. Neher-in-law5
That is a nice looking quilt. I hope it brings in some good funds for the group. Would you be able to post a clear drawing of how you did the double loopy design? My brain isn't doing it's best functioning right now. Thanks. My brain isn't doing it's best functioning right now. Thanks. Unfortunately I can't draw it as round and smooth as I can quilt it. I was hoping you could see it well enough in the black solid. If you can't figure it out...I can try to draw it. I just start like I am doing a loop meander...but make a double loop and then swirl to the next double loop. Thanks for the nice comments too! Neher-in-law5
Kristina, I can see the double loops in the black and even the rest, but to create a track in my mind is not coming. I also, need to translate it into move the quilt - not the machine since I quilt with George. Just been a long session of rough mental, here. Thanks for the response. LibbyG
I love the double swirl. I don't know where Bonnie gets her ideas. She stayed with me when our guild had her two years ago. The only time she rested was when she was sleeping.
Robin
Cute quilt. I like the idea of recycling shirts and duvet covers, etc. My mom and Grandma used to make most of their quilts out of clothes people had outgrown and they never used batting in their tied quilts, they always layered an old blanket in between. Those were the best quilts I've ever slept under. Nice and heavy. Of course, I always slept upstairs in our old two story house and it was colder than the dickens up there, so mom and Grandma's quilts were heavenly. Oh, that was such a nice trip down memory lane. Well, back to reality... Thanks for sharing your denim quilt pictures. I really liked your swirls quilting, too!

Neher-in-law5
That's fine, Kristina, my tomorrow is so solidly full I don't know if I will even have time to use my mind for much of anything! Have a good night and better day. Nice of you to watch the little one, those nights out for the parents are so hard to come by sometimes.
witha'K'quilting
I have been watching the baby (16 months) while her baby brother (5 months) has been in the hospital the past 4 days. She is sweet..but I am ready to give her back. I am exhausted! I have 7 of my own kids who don't want to share mom any more!

CindyT
That looks like a fun quilt to do and you nailed everything about it! I hope it's a big money maker in the raffle. I, too, love Bonnie Hunter's scrappy patterns although they are all on my still-to-do list, but my scraps are multiplying getting ready for them.
