ramona-quilter
Mary Beth, I would not even know where to start. How can you adjust it when there is applique on it. It looks like the applique on the right side was sewn in the wrong spot. Or is that just the photo? Oh, and I know that you are charging her for this, aren't you? TerriVB
Oh wow--I would probally want to fix it too--probaly easier to fix than trying to quilt it as it--keep us posted!!!
dtreusch
Hey MB. What a mess you have to fix. Bring it to Sheridan's with us. We can mull over how to fix it while enjoying some ice cream!! Debbi
Mary Beth
I think we need to take this one to a bar!! Maybe Margaritaville!! Oh wait, I don't drink...well, maybe I could start. Would one of you drive? My plan is to take the center out, remeasure the hole where the applique block was, add 1/4" to find out what size I actually need the center block to be, find the center of the block and trim accordingly. Then my goal is to go down in the Quilter's Hall of Fame! There is a hall of fame isn't there?? Charging for this?? She didn't ask my price, just said do it....I have no idea how much to charge. I need to know before I start. If I wait until I am done I'm sure I will charge way too much.
PattyJo
Hey MB - charge her by the hour and keep track of your time. That way, you get something for your work (probably not enough) and she knows that she needs to pay attention to details like no size DDD blocks! She learns and you don't give away your time. Just my 2 cents worth.
quiltmonkey
You are a hero to save this quilt!
ramona-quilter
It sounds like you have a plan... though the ice cream might improve the outlook of this quilt. I know that the center is too big, but remember that cutting off one side may make that basket cant (tilt) to one side. That would be ok as long as you have some extra fabric to add to the short side in order to straighten it up. Like a coping strip.
CWBowser
You will go in the Quilter's Hall of Fame for sure. You are wonderful to help this quilter out. Charlotte
Mary Beth
Linda, The basket is already off center. It has 1 1/2" on one side and over 2" on the other side. I'm feeling good about doing this....but I haven't really done it yet. Confidence (right Dawn C), that is the name of the game!!!

ginnysnowden
Mary Beth, If there is not a quilters hall of fame, perhaps we should build it and they will show up! What a doll you are now, we will see how you feel later. Ginny

lindasewsit
I don't think it will be hard to fix, just time consuming. I'm with Patty Jo, charge by the hour....these kind of things usually take longer than we think they will! Have fun! and let us see the finished project!! linda
bobbi
I agree, it doesn't look that hard to fix and if anyone can it's YOU! However I still think you could just wad up a bunch of batting and stuff it in there! A quilt with a pillow quilted right in it! There ya go! (How come nobody ever likes MY ideas... I'm so crushed...):P

meg_marsh
Wow............. I am not planning to go into business for now and maybe never. These are the type of things that scare the wits out of me. Have enough problems with my own mistakes!! I agree with everyone including you - take the middle block out and reinsert using the right measurements. Good luck and I know you will do a great job. Quilting Heidi
Mary Beth, At least the outside is square. I think that the middle will be easy to fix and your customer will so much happier with that quilt which will actually be very beautiful!
Georgene
I wonder if the starch and press method would work for this. It's a stretch I know. And maybe use fluffy batting -- do feaux trapunto in the middle.....just add a square of fluffy batting and quilt the heck out of it.
Melanie Rouse
Mary Beth, If you take the center out and measure the hole, add 1/2" instead of 1/4". This will allow for the seam allowance on both sides. Lotsa luck!
gable428
It will be great when you fix it:)
kennan100
Explain it like this. She's sqeezing DDD's into B's. Maybe the pain associated with that mental image will get the idea across. I cannot for the life of me figure out how this is possible.... And I have a vivid imagination!
Mary Beth
Yes, that is what I meant...1/4" on each side...you are expected to read my mind I think the starch method is out and an elephant as a weight instead of rice bags is in!!
