doodlebug
...quilt this if the client said, "i just want an E2E" and what color thread?
Janette
I'd put a panto on it which would look great with gold or silver glide thread which blends really nicely accross all of those gorgeous colours.... Actually I would be looking at the golds rather than silvers and greys. I have a dark and a light gold from glide which look great on almost every quilt top. Borderline Quilter
Is this a catch 22 question...have I seen this quilt before Mrs Doodlebug....lol....???? If it has to be a panto/edge to edge, I think something edgy and geometric with straight lines or spiral squares to contrast with all those curves. Here's one on one of my very early quilts It's 'Fracture' by Keryn Emmerson..... You being the Doodlebug would be able to do something like this freehand I'm sure.... I'd choose an electric blue thread
Boni
I like the one called "Knotty" from Willow Leaf Studios...by Gali. and I'd choose a color to match the border color--blue.
Busy Quilting
Why not do your "eethrees" in a sagey green so that the pieicing and fabric is the standout. Lyn
dmilner
I would do an all over design swinging from one outside curve to the next inside curve with some spirals inside; not in every one but randomly. I would make some curves look like the sun with rays coming from them almost echoing the outside border flowers. I would use purply/blue thread. I also think something like Circle lord "Square Dance" would look great.
Sue E.
I would probably do interlocking circles. See my pictures at webshots: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/394442678asSdNP?start=
suzanp
think I would use orange thread that would bring the orange out to the border and do a wavy path or maybe wavy type circles!!!but I am sure you will come up with something just right:)
Janette
Actually I like the panto that Kay has showed a photo of above. very geometric.
jeri
I like the geometric idea but with a bit more movement. There is a pattern in Linda Taylor's book Ultimate Guide to ALong Arm Quilting called combo. It has both swirls and geometric designs. I've used this idea on a number of boy's quilts but did it freehand.
gccarte
I like fractured as well.
Primitive1
Wow you have lots of suggestions but my vote on the thread would be blue too.....something matching the border....
gable428
Hello New Bride! Great colors in this quilt. I would do a panto with some points/leaves in it. One of my favorites is Fire Flower, which I got from Willow Leaf Studio. I'm thinking of a thread that would blend so you see the texture of the quilting. Just a thought! quiltmonkey
I would swirl and curl that puppy! Orange
LadyLake
Mandarin Garden by Kimberly Darwin is one of my all-time favorite pantos. It has lots of tropical birds, butterflies and leaves: http://www.prodigyquilter.com/mandaringarden11.aspx I'd use a Rainbows thread. It looks like #839/School Daze and #850/Treasure Chest, both have orange and blue.
Corey
I did Circle Lord swirl board on my 2 quilts that look like that. Filtec Khaki or Rainbows. Corey
Sheri Butler
LIME GREEN without a shadow of a doubt!!! Instead of the full E2E, can you do a quick "chantilly lace" type stitch in the "pie crust" pieces, and one of your fancy doodle-bug designs in the pie piece? It's a shame she wants E2E, cuz i'm definitely NOT an E2E quilter. Such a shame, cuz it's screaming for some fancy custom work.
Calicoquilter
My first thought when I saw that quilt was orange thread. Lime green would be my second choice.
Guest Linda S
I'd probably use something like WaterWorld, and I'd use baby poop green thread.
Janette
Just goes to show, there are so many different options for thread choice and quilting choice. Our customers are so lucky to have all of our input into their quilts don't ya think????
