witha'K'quilting
I called in the fire at noon. Nearly seven hours later, it burned nearly 3000 acres. Fortunately, the airport where 2 small airplanes that carry fire retardant are kept is only 1 mile down the road. Power was out as the fire went along the poleline road. srichardson
I hope that the firefighters will soon have it contained and out. It is that time of year again. I am not looking forward to the fireworks on Wednesday. They always seem to start some trouble!

witha'K'quilting
The winds are calming...so I really think that by tonight they should have things under control. My family is under no danger. There fortunately are no residences or farms/ranches that are in the path of the fire. This is just the closest fire I have seen this close to home. My husband and I worked wildfires years ago hauling a dozer. This is small compared to many fires we have seen. Also, my property has a pond with nearly 80000 gallons of water in it... we will be fine!

jclark
Terrible fire season, many huge fires burning in Montana, fireworks banned in our county but thankfully no fires near us yet this time.
BunkHouseQuilts
Oh Kristina! I know how scary and horrible that is....we have been lucky so far this season, but in 2007, we had fires on all 4 sides of us and the mountain burned for about 3 months! Take care and I hope they get it under control fast.
