doodlebug
is is okay to meander the background of this applique? i'm charging her a full custom price, and this quilt is mostly SID (80%), with very little room to play....it's a smallish size~ 60 x 70 p.s. i don't CH
juliagraves
I wouldn't meander over her applique, but I think it's fine to meander in the background. I would pick a density that's comparable to the rest of the quilt. You might put some leaves, swirls or ribbon curls in the meander to break it up a little and give a little more interest. DoryJM
Why wouldn't it be okay? You're not going to stitch over the applique and meandering will just show it off even more. I don't see a problem...
AbigailE
I'd shadow some jumping bunnies, some small butterflies, some lady bugs, some clouds, some.... Something a bit more interesting than just meander. You may well be beyond bored with this already. Most winning ribbons, and I know that what you do qualifies you, are more than just meander/stipple. You go girl, you know I know youre the bestest! witha'K'quilting
I fall back to my swirl meander alot! I would defintiely do something behind that applique to make it POP! You shouldn't doubt yourself...that is for me to do!
Quilting Heidi
I think meandering in the background and outlining the applique is perfectly acceptable. McTavishing would look good too.
dtreusch
Any small background filler would look good. It will give the quilt really nice texture, especially on white fabric and behind applique.

Bonnie
Yepper the same thing is my vote....it will look better than if you have different patterns all over it. Some do call for that, but I think this one needs to be all the same. JMHO...
