witha'K'quilting
Hi everyone. I finished this 85x95 String Star quilt last night. It was on my frame for 3 weeks. No time with baseball/softball with my kids. I put 17 hours into this quilt. All custom. Tons of SID. I created a space in the star for the feathers to flow nicer. I like it...and the lady I quilted it for...loved it! She is very pleased. So Fine on top...bottomline in bobbin...all ivory colored. All freehand, except sid...I used a ruler. The backing is on the bias. She pieced it using large diamonds. What a chore to keep straight. I did it though. She loved the back as much as the front. Go figure! Enjoy the pictures! witha'K'quilting
Thanks everybody for the nice compliments. I wish I could say I made it too. But, I didn't. I am planning on making a string star in browns and light teal for myself later on. Needless to say, I will do something different for the quilting. witha'K'quilting
I avoided the thick seams in the center where the 4 red string diamonds came together on the front. I developed a method where I could stitch around the ivory stars and make the center motif, and one feather in one start/stop. Then I had lots of starts/stops with the rest of the feathers and sid.
