RitaR Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I think all or most of us have one thing of which they collect the most. Mine is scissors.. would hate to count them but am sure I have more than 20 pair. What is your ______aholic???
meg Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 batik-aholic i try to be good, but i just can't when i see a glorious, richly colored batik. i never met a color i didn't like.
KathG Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Mine I Quilt Pattern- aholic I love browsing through quilt patterns online. Some bought a lot free from generous quilting blogs and quilt fabric sites. I save all the PDF files on my computer , though lately my iBook library on my iPad is getting rather full of quilt patterns. Strangely though I rarely follow a quilt pattern completely Rita I also love scissors, and the BLANK- aholic could be applied to a few other things , like accuquilt dies, to name but one LOL:P:P:P
quietlifeaz Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Hi my name is Kelly and I am a fabro-pattern-threadaholic! With a growing dependency on templates.
Primitive1 Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I think mine is like Kath, quilt patterns and books, then followed by fabrics and rulers....oh and thread of course!
MastiffMomQlt Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I'm a scrap-ahaulic! Not only can I not get rid of mine, I take high quality scraps from others as well I'm so happy to sit at my machine & sew scraps into cool new blocks.
Sallyquilt Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Hmmm- generally speaking a fabric-aholic. But after 40+ years of conspicuous over-consumption, I'd have to admit that I am the lowest of the low---an everything quilting-aholic. I am a quilt shop owner/online website owner's sweetest dream! I buy(bought) pretty much everything anyone would sell, sometimes in duplicate or triplicate ad infinitum. I used to dress my compulsion up in the reasoning that I was stockpiling for my retirement years when the funds wouldn't be there to purchase frivolous things. Well here I am on the doorstep of retirement and I am surrounded (think the tv show Hoarders) with my mountains of stuff. I have dedicated myself to digging my way out of this. I may not live long enough to finish the task, but at least I have started the journey. Sally
nora123 Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Mine is vintage feedsack fabric and vintage 1930's 40's fabric. Can't get enough. I use mine, don't just look at it. I will do just about anything for it. It's like heroin I gotta have it.
sewcrazy4quilting Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Books are my weakness. I just can't pass them up when they catch my eye.
MtnBarb Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Horribly I the same as all of you but especially the Gadgetaholic like Connie!
GrandmaLKB Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Oh my............gadget-a-holic, I think and thread, too............I'm a sucker for every new tool and toy.
aleksich Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Oh, I think that it would be gadgetacholic. My what a word. I do love fabric also, oh, yes books and patterns.
Quilting Heidi Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I'm not a biggie for collecting but I do have my share of needles & scissors. I would say I'm a postaholic...lol given my post number I sure do have a lot to say.
BunkHouseQuilts Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 Patternaholic. I have more patterns than fabric or gadgets.....or just about anything.
chermitch4 Posted January 12, 2012 Report Posted January 12, 2012 I love fabric ,gadgets, thread, patterns, books and templates!!!Oh my!!!!!
ffq-lar Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Batikaholic... Threadaholic... Forum-oholic!!!!! (And I put Den to work making me all kinds of acrylic stuff on his CG router and laser cutter.--so I'm a Denny-oholic as well!)
RitaR Posted January 13, 2012 Author Report Posted January 13, 2012 LOL, these answers are so cute when read from my end.. guess I better admit to fabric too. I don't keep any quilts I make, ( I've only kept two in 17 years of quilting, so am really afraid of running out of compatible fabrics. With the prices up over $12 per yard, retirement pay just doesn't "get it". I've a lot to use and it is getting organized into smaller folds etc so I can see them easier. Anyway, I do tend to stockpile colors to go with what I already have. I make Quilts of Valor and Community Service Quilts.. which go to a special Ed school, or the Haven House for battered men, women and children..Christian Outreah, some went to the tornado victims, and one will go to a Habitat For Humanity later this month when the house is dedicated to the family. Anyway that keeps me busy making. I still need fabrics in the yellow and brown families.. Shall count my scissors tomorrow.. I started today and gave up at about 11 pair and hadn't even hit the big box yet. I'm really bad.
quiltmonkey Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I'm a dust-aholic. I collect dust. I love the way it sparkles so pretty on my furniture and how it glints in the sunlight. Yup, I'm a dust-aholic.
quiltmonkey Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 OK OK.... I'll play nice. My weakness is books and quilt patterns. I have so many books and oodles of patterns I will never have time to make them all yet... oh ... there's another one that I must have and then this one and that one and I continue to buy more... It's terrible!
Corey Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Mine is fabric, books and threads, in that order.
Blue Wren Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I love Batik too!!! Except I like to go to Bali & pick it off the racks myself. I then try & squish as many metres into my suitcase that I can legally carry on to the plane. I have been known to leave behind my clothes & shoes so that I can bring home more Batik!
RitaR Posted January 13, 2012 Author Report Posted January 13, 2012 Shana and Jenny, Love hearing the reasoning and how the results came about.. Very inventive.. Shana, did the big Anchorage storm get up your way? I believe we'd have heard about it, if it had. Those poor souls need all kinds of help.. These answers are all a smile maker and still just as cute as the first bunch.. Thanks for letting us know your "weakness".
Joyce Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I collect it all and enjoy every minute of it. Shana, you must realize that dust is good furniture protection that is my story and I'm sticking to it.
aktbone Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Mine are batiks and novels! Quilt till I drop and then into bed with a great book.
