Laura Farnham
Well, anyone who knows me, Knows that I do not piece. I can, it's just not pretty!!! Well, for Christmas, I wanted to make my sister something unexpected. I found this piece at a store in the mall and thought, "I could make that into a wholecloth!!" (Funny how a longarmers mind works;)) Finished it Last night @ 1:30 am and posted pics on Facebook. True to form, someone called the shop this morning to comment on the quilt. Unfortunately, I was not in yet, so they were talking to Nani about the beautiful quilt. She had no idea what they were talking about. Anyway, I gave it to her this morning and she loved it. Thanks for looking!! Laura

AshleyD
Laura, that is GORGEOUS!!! I'm curious, did you draw that design yourself or use a template or an image? I have been wanting to do some sort of tree design for some time now but can't draw for the life of me...just wondering where I can find an image like that! it's simply stunning!! If it is a panel, do you have the info on it? this is beautiful and I could really see this on the wall at my DD's house. Thanks for any info. LibbyG
What an inspiration? I'll certainly look at material in a different way now. Of course, I won't be able to do a gorgeous job like yours, but it'll be a good practice piece.

Laura Farnham
Thanks for the interest in this piece. It is actually a pre-printed, wall tapestry. Didn't have to do any marking, just outlined EVERYTHING, then started playing!! The tree trunk was Screaming for McTavishing and I knew that I wanted to have rays coming from behind the tree. I guess you could call this my "Cheater Wholecloth". It was fun to work on and my sister loved it. Will be working on another one here in a couple of days. This one is Bright Lavender with lots of scrolls. It will be for a dear friend of Nani's that is dealing with her 3rd bought of Breast Cancer. I'll post pics when I finish that one.
