We have a very small parish and our priest drives hours to perform the liturgy on Sundays. So I wanted to make a quick quilt as a gift for his daughter when she got married in July. I asked him for her colors and he gave me the ribbon she used in the wedding, tan, lime green and white. I wanted to practice with my quiltazoid, but I didn't like the patterns with the blocks on point. I saw Patty, "Katydid," use this pattern in a Lone Star quilt and I decided to practice it.

In the setting triangles I used DeLoas' Basics of Feathering book because you can do the design with one pass.

This log cabin was done my friend who loves reproduction era quilts and quilting. It was the first time I did a clam shell. So a big thank you to Joan and Vickie who helped me with the pattern. We have such wonderful forum members.

Both of these quilts are perfectly done, Libby. You really shine whenever you do feathers. I thought the clamshell turned out especially nice on the log cabin. I love the way you extended the clamshell lines down to the next log. Your special attention to detail made this quilt shine, too!

This forum is so wonderful because everyone is always so encouraging. I look at my work and see all the flaws. I really had trouble starting the feather for each circle. I finally figured out that I needed to put a slanted first feather for them to join fairly well at the end. Since I had 12 blocks to practice and three circles in each blocks, I did make headway.
